What to see for liver function tests

Liver function test is a test that reflects the basic condition of liver function by testing various indicators related to liver function and metabolism through various biochemical test methods. If the public wants to have liver function test, it should be classified according to the hospital department. For general liver function test, you can consult internal medicine, gastroenterology, hepatobiliary medicine, and the above departments if there is a special hepatology department. With the progress of liver physiology and pathology research, the number of liver function tests is increasing. However, a particular liver function test can only measure a certain function of the liver or a certain aspect of liver disease, but cannot include all functions. To determine whether all liver functions are normal, several tests should be done at the same time according to clinical needs and combined with clinical data to make a comprehensive analysis. Sometimes not only medical but also surgical assistance is needed, such as physical examination by hepatobiliary surgery and general surgery, combined with clinical manifestations and further ultrasound imaging to confirm the diagnosis of hepatobiliary disease. After the physical examination, venous blood is drawn for liver function tests. The purpose is: to confirm the diagnosis of liver disease; to observe the progress of liver disease; to judge the course of liver disease and prognosis. Before the liver function test, it is important to prepare well, not to take drugs that damage the liver, not to drink alcohol, not to overexert yourself, to keep your mood relaxed, and to eat a light diet to avoid the intake of fatty foods to prevent the test results from being affected. Remember to consult a gastroenterology, hepatobiliary or hepatology specialist on an empty stomach.
