The difference between qi deficiency sweating and yin deficiency sweating lies in the differences between the two pathologies, clinical manifestations and therapeutic medications. 1. Pathogenesis: Chinese medicine believes that qi has the role of consolidation (consolidation), qi deficiency can lead to the skin coupling (pores) loose, easy to sweat; and yin deficiency fluid deficiency, easy to lead to the birth of heat, especially at night, the body’s yang qi into the yin, can lead to the more prevalence of heat, easy to force the fluid out. 2. Clinical manifestations: qi deficiency sweating, mainly manifested as excessive sweating during the day, especially after exercise or activities, but also shortness of breath and fatigue, easy to catch a cold. Yin deficiency sweating, mostly manifested as night sweating (abnormal sweating after going to sleep and stopping sweating after waking up), can also be accompanied by dry mouth and tongue, and five heart heat (heat in the heart of the hands and feet, and self-consciousness of the heart and chest heat). 3. Therapeutic use: If the sweating is caused by qi deficiency, the treatment should be to benefit qi and consolidate the surface, and the medicine should be Yu Ping Feng San. This product should not be used in cases of external spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the day, aggravated by sweating with slight movement) or night sweating due to yin deficiency. For yin deficiency sweating, the treatment should be nourishing yin and clearing heat (nourishing yin essence and removing heat), and Zhi Bai Di Huang Wan should be used. The adverse effects and contraindications of this product are not clear. In conclusion, sweating due to Qi deficiency and sweating due to Yin deficiency are two completely different diseases, but both of them can occur at the same time, i.e., Qi and Yin deficiencies (deficiency of both Qi and Yin fluids). If this kind of disease occurs, it can be adjusted with medication under the guidance of a physician’s diagnosis, and should not be blindly used on its own.
