Cervical conization mainly includes cervical electric loop conization (LEEP for short) and cold knife conization, which are mainly used for the treatment of cervical lesions, especially cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and other precancerous lesions. Postoperative patients need to pay attention to: 1. Prevention of infection: cervical conization is a surgery, there is a local trauma on the cervix after surgery, as with many other surgeries, infection may occur after surgery, therefore, it is imperative to prevent the occurrence of infection. Appropriate application of antibiotic treatment is needed. 2. Be alert to bleeding: Vaginal bleeding may occur within three weeks after surgery, especially within one week. Moreover, in general, within two or three weeks after surgery, there will be more vaginal discharge, which can be pink, and sometimes there will be a small amount of vaginal bleeding, which is normal. If the amount of bleeding is less than the amount of menstruation, you can rest in bed and reasonably apply hemostatic drugs; whenever, if the amount of vaginal bleeding is more than the amount of menstruation, especially when accompanied by blood clots, you should go to the hospital where you had surgery to see your surgeon in time. Untimely consultation may result in haemorrhage or even haemorrhagic shock, which may be life-threatening in serious cases. 3. Keep your vulva clean: After surgery, you should not neglect to keep your vulva clean because of the high vaginal discharge. However, vaginal douching and sitz baths are not advocated for the first two or three weeks after surgery because not only are they likely to lead to traumatic infection, but they also face an increased risk of bleeding. During hospitalization, perineal scrubbing can be appropriate. Outside the hospital, the vulva can be kept dry and the discharged fluid can be properly wiped with toilet paper. You can take a shower, but the time must not be too long, otherwise, the risk of bleeding from the cervical trauma increases. 4.First postoperative menstruation: Although the incidence is not high, cervical adhesions may occur after cervical conization. If the expected vaginal bleeding during menstruation is not heavy and uncomfortable but abdominal pain is obvious, it suggests that cervical adhesions may have occurred and you should seek consultation from your doctor. 5, other: such as appropriate application of hemostatic drugs for 2-3 days after surgery; rest for 2-3 weeks after surgery; abstain from sexual life for 2 months; pay attention to send the conization tissue for pathological examination, pay attention to take the pathological results for follow-up; if the vagina is filled with gauze after surgery, it should be removed in time after 24 hours; outpatient review after one month after menstruation is clean; regular review according to the doctor’s order, etc.
