How does HPV phenotype behave? Human is the only host of human papillomavirus (HPV). Currently, HPV is classified into more than 100 subtypes using molecular biology techniques, and HPV-6 and -11 are the main viruses causing condyloma acuminatum, accounting for about 90% of the cases. HPV-16, -18, -45, and -56 are the most common high-risk cervical cancer types. We should know that 20-50% of sexually active young people have HPV infection, and the chance of being infected with at least one HPV subtype during a person’s lifetime is as high as 80%. High-risk types such as HPV 16, 18, 31, and 33 play a role in the development of malignancy, but are not inevitable.
