Ginger tablets should not be used to treat acne marks. Acne marks are pigmentation that occurs after the skin has been damaged and the inflammation has subsided. There is no scientific basis associated with ginger slices to get rid of acne marks. Ginger contains ingredients that irritate the skin, and rubbing it on the skin with edible ginger can easily cause epidermal erosions and ulcers, produce skin infections, and result in visible hyperpigmentation and even scar formation after the infection. Patients are thus not advised to use ginger to remove acne marks. Most pimple marks can heal on their own. Smaller pimple marks are lighter in color and can recover in about 1 month. For larger pimple marks, the color will be darker and the recovery time will be longer. If patients are eager to get rid of acne marks, they can use fruit acid peeling or photorejuvenation treatment to accelerate the cell shedding and renewal of the epidermis, while stimulating dermal collagen synthesis, which will have a better effect on acne scars and acne marks.
