Gallstone surgery has the potential to leave scars. At present, most of the treatments for biliary stones, especially gallbladder stones, are minimally invasive, leaving only 3-4 small minimally invasive holes in the abdominal wall. Nowadays, single-hole laparoscopy or microchannel laparoscopic cholecystectomy is also being carried out gradually, leaving only a small incision of about 2 cm in the umbilicus. With intradermal sutures, the healing abdominal wall scar is very small with no obvious scars, while for some keloid patients, scars may remain. However, overall, minimally invasive treatment now leaves much smaller scars compared to the open surgery of the past. For some patients who heal well, there is little visible scarring on the abdominal wall.
