Lung nodules can cause pleural effusion, which is common in lung nodules combined with lung infection, pleural metastasis of malignant lung nodules or malignant lung nodules combined with hypoproteinemia.
1. Most of the lung nodules grow in the lungs, especially the smaller ones. Regardless of whether the lung nodules are benign or malignant, most of them do not irritate the pleura and usually do not cause pleural effusion.
2. If lung nodules are combined with lung infections (e.g. pneumonia, tuberculosis, etc.), or pleural metastases of malignant lung nodules, or malignant lung nodules are combined with hypoproteinemia, etc., they may irritate or cause pleural leakage and result in pleural effusion.
It is recommended to go to the hospital for further counseling, examination or treatment to determine whether lung nodules can cause pleural effusion.
