What are the symptoms of pleural effusion

Symptoms of pleural effusion include chest tightness and dyspnea, as well as inducing primary disease.
1. Chest tightness and dyspnea: when the effusion is less than 300ml, the general symptoms are not obvious, but for the early stage of acute pleurisy when the amount of effusion is small, there can be obvious chest pain. When the pleural effusion is greater than 500ml, chest tightness, palpitation, shortness of breath, dyspnea, or even sit-up breathing with cyanosis may occur.
2. Symptoms of primary disease: for example, if pleural effusion is caused by tuberculosis, some patients may have symptoms of tuberculosis intoxication, such as low-grade fever, exertion and fatigue; cardiac insufficiency may have pulmonary edema, symmetrical edema of the lower limbs and other manifestations of cardiac insufficiency; pneumonia-associated pleural effusion is often accompanied by fever and coughing up sputum; patients with hepatic abscess may have pain in the liver area.
When the above symptoms of pleural effusion appear, you should go to the hospital in time and actively cooperate with the doctor for treatment.
