What happens when you develop a pleural effusion

The presence of pleural effusion is considered to be related to lung infection, hypoproteinemia, tumor, heart failure and so on.
1. Lung infection: If the lungs are infected by bacteria or viruses, it will lead to pneumonia, tuberculosis and other diseases, and when the inflammation spreads to the pleura, it will lead to pleural effusion.
2. Hypoproteinemia: Cirrhosis, nephrotic syndrome or malnutrition can cause hypoproteinemia, and the increase of pleural fluid exudation can lead to pleural effusion.
3. Tumor: some malignant tumors, such as lung cancer, breast cancer, lymphoma, etc., if pleural metastasis occurs, it can produce a large amount of pleural effusion.
4. Heart failure: if heart failure occurs, the hydrostatic pressure of capillaries at pleura will increase, which may lead to fluid leakage into pleural cavity, thus forming pleural effusion.
Pleural effusion may also be related to other causes, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time to clarify the cause of the disease and standardize the treatment under the guidance of the doctor.
