Hemangioma on lips can be treated by medication, surgery and laser treatment, but the treatment method needs to be decided according to the type of hemangioma and many factors. 1. For infants and young children: generally it is vascular malformation caused by congenital reasons, small hemangioma may subside by itself as the baby grows up; if the baby still does not subside after 1 year old and it is getting bigger and bigger, oral propranolol can be considered, and laser treatment can be considered at the same time. If it doesn’t get bigger and doesn’t subside, it can be treated with β-blocker medication such as propranolol ointment externally under doctor’s guidance during childhood according to individual needs and the growth site of lip hemangioma. 2. For adults: it is mainly the hemangioma caused by vascular malformation due to acquired factors. Since lip hemangioma, especially upper lip hemangioma is more likely to be secondary to long-term deformity after treatment than other parts, and it is more likely to affect the aesthetic appearance in the face, so it is necessary to choose the treatment method carefully. Since treatments such as injections of sclerosing agents or surgeries are more likely to result in scarring, they are generally not recommended as a preferred treatment option. Medication such as oral propranolol is recommended, on top of which dye laser and photodynamic therapy can be used. Hemangiomas on the lips should be treated under medical supervision.
