What are the characteristics of hemangioma?

Hemangioma is a vascular malformation, and very few of them are congenital benign tumors, mostly seen at birth or shortly after birth, which originate from residual embryonic angiogenic cells. According to their clinical manifestations and histological characteristics, hemangiomas can be divided into capillary hemangiomas, cavernous hemangiomas and trabecular hemangiomas, among which capillary hemangiomas and cavernous hemangiomas are more common. Capillary hemangioma: Capillary hemangioma is composed of abnormal development of dilated capillaries. They are mostly found on the face and oral mucosa. If it is not higher than the skin, it is bright red or purplish red with clear boundary and irregular shape, like wine spot; if it is higher than the skin, the surface is uneven, like prune. When the tumor is compressed, the color of the surface recedes because of the blood flowing out of the tumor, and after the pressure is lifted, the blood immediately fills the tumor and restores the original size and color.
