How to diagnose and treat primary liver cancer?

The Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) is a clinical staging system for liver cancer. The BCLC clinical staging system for liver cancer was proposed by Llovet in 1999 and modified by the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases in 2005. The BCLC staging system is considered to be the best staging system and has been proven in numerous clinical studies. The BCLC clinical staging of liver cancer can be divided into five categories: earliest stage, early stage, middle stage, late stage and end stage, among which early stage can be divided into four subgroups, which has strong ability to classify and predict prognosis. This is unparalleled by other staging systems. BCLC includes four main prognostic factors: 1) general status of the patient 2) tumor status 3) liver function status 4) available treatment options.
