Cysts of the eyelids, also commonly called either dermatomal cysts or lid cysts, are surgically removed when conservative treatment is ineffective or if the cyst is relatively large. This is a very minor outpatient surgery in ophthalmology and the recovery time after surgery is about one week. After surgical excision, since there is a local wound, care should be taken to keep the area clean to avoid the occurrence of local infection due to the entry of dirty water into the wound. In this case, local antibiotic eye ointment should be applied to promote the reduction of local inflammation, such as erythromycin eye ointment or levofloxacin hydrochloride eye ointment, 1-2 times a day is sufficient. The wound usually heals completely and returns to normal in about a week, during which time eye drops can also be applied to reduce the inflammatory response.
