Is excessive dreaming a disease?

Patient: Description (onset time, main symptoms, hospital, etc.): I am 32 years old, dreaming every night, and also during the day, such as sleeping. Especially at night, dreams, dreams of everything, thought it was weak, did not think much about it, but recently always dreamed of my recently deceased grandmother, and other deceased but known people, sometimes the dream of a horrible dream they want to move can not move, what is going on? Is it a nightmare? I have not been treated. What is it? Is it a nightmare and do I need treatment? Doctor: If you just dream a lot, especially if it has been going on for many years, there is no obvious discomfort when you wake up in the morning and you feel comfortable after waking up, and your daily work and life status are normal, and you are emotionally stable and happy, then this kind of dreaming can be regarded as physiological and you don’t need to pay much attention to it. What you should pay attention to is: do not recall the dream repeatedly or wonder “why” you have such a dream after waking up, but go back to your daily activities such as washing up, breakfast and getting ready for work as soon as possible. If you have had these dreams recently and still feel sleepy and uncomfortable when you wake up, and have multiple discomforts during the day, it is recommended that you go to a sleep disorder or psychiatric clinic for further treatment as soon as possible. For elderly people, if the problem of excessive dreaming occurs after entering middle age or old age, especially if it is accompanied by increasingly unsatisfactory sleep quality and a tendency to get progressively worse with time, then it should be given full attention. Sleep breathing disorders, sleep movement disorders, and behavioral disorders during rapid eye movement sleep are sleep disorders that are more likely to develop in old age, and excessive dreaming symptoms may be the first or earlier symptoms in all of these disorders. Among the psychiatric disorders, depressive disorders and anxiety disorders are also two disorders that are more prone to excessive dreaming symptoms. These disorders are complex to treat and require early consultation with a physician with relevant professional experience.
