What is the relationship between sex and cervical cancer?

Cervical cancer is located in the second place of malignant tumors in women, second only to breast cancer. The long-term survival rate does not exceed 40% and the recurrence-free survival rate does not exceed 30%. Due to the influence of individual typical cases, it is deeply valued by everyone. If you open any search engine, you will find that cervical cancer is closely related to sex, as if sex is the culprit of cervical cancer! In fact, there is a misunderstanding here. It is true that sex is related to cervical cancer, but sex itself is not the direct culprit of cervical cancer, but unclean sexual behavior! Although the cause of cervical cancer is not yet fully understood, we know that cervical cancer has a long precancerous stage, which is cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), and more than 90% of CIN have HPV infection. Modern molecular biology studies also show that more than 90% of cervical cancers are associated with HPV infection, mainly HPV type 16 and 18. HPV is human papillomavirus, which is commonly known as “condyloma acuminatum”. In early HPV infection, the cervical epithelium becomes typically dug-out cells, in which a large amount of HPV-DNA and viral capsid antigens can be seen, and HPV is not adapted to grow in immature cells. transformation. However, HPV infection does not persist and is often suppressed or disappears spontaneously, and many women with HPV infection do not have clinical symptoms. Many CINs are seen to regress spontaneously in clinical practice. However, when HPV infection persists, CIN can be induced by some other factors (e.g., smoking, sexually transmitted diseases, etc.). It is thus clear that sex itself does not cause cervical cancer if it is not premature (less than 16 years of age), but is caused by HPV infection and persistence due to impure sex. Despite this, the process is long (about 10-15 years). As long as one is clean and avoids repeated infections, and with the availability of medical methods for early diagnosis, I believe we will no longer talk about sex because of cervical cancer!
