Do thyroid nodules require surgery?

This issue still needs to be analyzed on a “problem-specific” basis. Some patients, once they find out that they have a nodule in their thyroid gland, are eager to ask for surgery and want it to disappear immediately, which is actually unnecessary. Generally speaking, most thyroid nodules are still benign, and the malignancy rate is only about 5-15%. So after finding a thyroid nodule, it is imperative that you go to the hospital in a timely manner, keep a relaxed mind, never be too nervous and upset, cooperate well with the doctor for relevant examinations, and the nature of the thyroid nodule should be carried out. A rigorous assessment. The key is to identify whether a thyroid nodule is benign or malignant. Only highly suspicious or clearly malignant thyroid nodules are treated with surgery, while benign nodules can be treated with elective surgery, levothyroxine suppression therapy or regular follow-up, depending on the situation. Therefore, if you have a thyroid nodule, do not operate blindly, but wait until the nature of the nodule is clear before making a decision.
