Early stages of cardiac enlargement can be slowed down by drugs, and with medical treatment, life can be prolonged to a large extent, with little impact on life expectancy; however, if it progresses to the end stage or is untreated and the primary disease is not effectively controlled, cardiac function will decline rapidly, and in severe cases, death can occur very quickly. Cardiac enlargement belongs to ventricular remodeling, which is the basic pathological process in the development of heart failure. According to the pathologic features, cardiac enlargement can be divided into two conditions: 1. Thickening of the ventricular wall: this is a relatively early stage of cardiac enlargement, which can be effectively slowed down by strict medical treatment and generally does not affect life expectancy. 2. Enlargement of the diameter of the heart chambers: this is a more advanced stage of cardiac enlargement, with a significant decline in cardiac function, more obvious signs and symptoms of heart failure, and a significant decline in the survival rate and quality of life of the patient, which requires strict treatment and care to reduce the mortality rate. As long as the heart is enlarged, it is necessary to consult the doctor in a timely manner, according to the doctor’s instructions for scientific treatment, careful care, in order to achieve the purpose of improving the survival rate of patients.
