Dry eye is one of the most common clinical diseases in ophthalmology. Dry eye is a type of disease caused by abnormalities in the quality and quantity of tears or tear drainage disorders, which leads to dryness and discomfort of the eye and even damage to the ocular surface tissue. In mild cases, dry eye causes dry eyes, red eyes, decreased vision, increased secretion, visual fatigue, foreign body sensation, etc. In severe cases, it can lead to continuous epithelial detachment, corneal ulceration, infection or even perforation, and even blindness. Due to the lack of awareness of dry eye, a considerable number of dry eyes are treated as chronic conjunctivitis. Long-term use of large amounts of medication and frequent replacement of eye medication and application of multiple eye medications can damage the ocular surface and cause pharmacogenic keratitis, resulting in a vicious cycle of dry eye and ocular surface damage, aggravating the patient’s symptoms and affecting life and work. Therefore, if a patient has dry eye symptoms and no other reasonable explanation, repeatedly delayed, do not abuse eye medication, should see a professional doctor to avoid delaying the disease.
