Be alert, teenage health killer – scoliosis!

In the summer vacation of 2019, we received a lot of adolescent scoliosis patients because of back pain and neck pain and sleepiness. Most of them came to the clinic only when their parents unintentionally found that their children had problems with their body posture, such as one shoulder high and one shoulder low (high and low shoulder), and one leg long and one leg short (yin and yang feet, long and short legs), etc. Why is this? Because adolescent scoliosis itself may not have any discomfort, so it is allowed to develop, so it does not cause me and my parents to pay attention to it, until the gait or the appearance of the presentation of obvious high and low shoulders or one side of the scapula is obviously convex, only to be brought to the hospital by the parents to save the treatment, and often misses the optimal time for treatment. Some parents come to see me for cervical spondylosis and lumbar spine disease (herniation), when hospitalized to check the cervical spine and lumbar spine ordinary X-rays, but found that there is a lumbar spine sideways curvature, and in some cases also accompanied by lumbar vertebrae rotation, and then further inspection of the whole spinal column positive and lateral X-rays, the results show that the entire spine has also occurred in the skewed. Parents were then instructed to bring their children for a full-length orthopantomogram of the spine, and it was found that the children also had varying degrees of scoliosis. In some cases, after the child has a common cold with a lingering cough, a chest X-ray is performed and scoliosis is found to be present in the thoracic spine, which is usually about 10 degrees in angle. The following people are prone to scoliosis? In daily life, many girls who practice dance, yoga, and Pilates are more prone to scoliosis. If not prevented and corrected, the angle of scoliosis tends to develop with the increase in the difficulty of practicing dance and other movements, and with the increase in age. According to research, scoliosis has a tendency to catch up with teenagers suffering from myopia. Let’s start by understanding what a normal human spine looks like. Normal human spine from the rear view, should be a straight line and symmetrical, side view has four physiological curvature, cervical, lumbar forward convex, thoracic vertebrae and sacral backward convex, with the support of the torso, protection of the spinal cord, thoracic and abdominal visceral organs and to maintain the balance of the body’s function. Once the maintenance of spinal balance of a factor is broken are possible.
