What is a renal hemangioma?

Renal hemangioma is a congenital developmental abnormality, which is a benign tumor and consists of blood vessels and lymphatic vessels. Most of them are single and have no obvious abnormal symptoms, while those with larger size may show back pain, hematuria, etc. Imaging tests such as ultrasound and CT need to be given in order to confirm the diagnosis. Treatment is mainly surgical resection. Renal hemangioma is generated by residual blood vessel cells that have not developed into normal blood vessels during embryonic period, and it is most common in cavernous hemangioma, and when the volume is small, patients do not have any discomfort. As the size of the hemangioma increases, it may cause pressure on the surrounding tissues or rupture of blood vessels, and the patient may suffer from lower back pain and hematuria. Ultrasound examination of kidney can be preferred, and renal CT, angiography and other examinations can be given to confirm the diagnosis if necessary. Small size and asymptomatic patients do not need to be treated, while large size and abnormal symptoms need to be treated with surgical resection, and some patients can also be given sclerotherapy. It is recommended that the patient go to the hospital and complete the auxiliary examinations in order to clarify the condition and be treated by a professional doctor.
