The Law of the People’s Republic of China on Population and Family Planning and the Regulations on the Administration of Family Planning Technical Services both identify reproductive health care as an important task from laws and regulations. This is one of the important steps for the government to care for the people and promote a harmonious society. However, male reproductive health care in China started late and the current situation is worrying, which must get the attention of the whole society. First of all, the number of male germ cells is on the decline The World Health Organization (WHO) survey report in 1993 showed that the number of male sperm has decreased by 4-5% in the last half century. In the past 20 years, the number of human sperm has been declining at a rate of 2% per year. Foreign experts summarized the relevant literature for 50 years before 1990, pointing out that the number of human sperm decreased by more than 40% in 50 years, and the volume of semen decreased by 20%. In China, during the 16 years from 1981 to 1996, the sperm count of adult fertile men decreased by 18.6%, the sperm motility rate decreased by 10.4%, and the normal form of sperm decreased by 8.4%. WHO also reported in 1993 that at least 80 million couples worldwide suffer from infertility, and the rate of increase is 2 million pairs per year. Male factors account for 33% of these cases. The decline in the quality of male semen can lead to miscarriage, child mental decline, neonatal hypospadias and testicular malformation, cryptorchidism and other birth defects, and in serious cases eventually lead to male sterility, and male infertility is not only a family problem, but also a social problem, to solve male infertility is beneficial to social stability and family happiness. Therefore, male reproductive health care can not be delayed, maintaining male reproductive health is an important mission of the whole society and even the whole human race. Second, the reproductive health of middle-aged and elderly men should be taken seriously China’s aging population has exceeded 10% of the total population and the proportion is increasing, China has entered an aging society. However, at present, the reproductive health of middle-aged and elderly men has been seriously neglected. Studies have reported that middle-aged and older men from the age of 40 to 55 experience menopause-like symptoms to varying degrees due to androgen deficiency. These symptoms include not only a decline in sexual function, but also memory loss, irritability, cardiovascular problems, and many metabolic diseases such as hyperlipidemia, hypertension, hyperglycemia, and obesity, which seriously affect the quality of life of middle-aged and elderly men. China’s menopause education is still in its infancy, and is currently being conducted in only a few developed large and medium-sized cities, and public awareness of male menopause is significantly lagging behind. Some experts point out that the attention paid to middle-aged and older men, whether from medical treatment, the media or men themselves, is insufficient, and this will be one of the problems that must be faced and solved in an aging society. Finally, it should be emphasized that male reproductive health is a complex multi-factorial issue, environmental pollution, climate deterioration, people’s poor exposure to physical and chemical, unscientific living and dietary hygiene habits, etc. can all have an impact on reproductive health. It is a misconception that male reproductive health problems will be treated with drugs and injections, such as a decrease in semen quality, the use of so-called sperm enhancers to increase the number and vitality of sperm; sexual dysfunction, the use of “Viagra” or kidney drugs, this is not a scientific approach. The measures taken to maintain male reproductive health, including preventive measures, therapeutic measures, health promotion measures, must be a multi-factor systemic project, in addition, in-depth discussion of the basic theory of male reproductive physiology, as well as the common concern of society as a whole, will open up new paths to completely solve the problems facing male reproduction.
