Insomnia usually refers to a common disease in which difficulty in falling asleep or maintaining sleep (easy waking, early waking and difficulty in falling asleep again) leads to a decrease in the duration or quality of sleep to meet physiological needs and affects the quality of daytime life or social function. It is one of the most common clinical conditions, and although it is not a critical disease, it hinders people’s normal life, work, study and health, and may aggravate or induce hypertension, coronary heart disease, cardiac arrhythmia and other diseases. Stubborn insomnia brings long-term pain to patients.
I. Pharmacological treatment of insomnia
Chinese medicine has good effect on the diagnosis and treatment, but it needs to be treated by the Chinese medicine doctor with experience. Western medicine treatment is mainly sedative-hypnotic drugs, most commonly used such as triazolam, alprazolam, lorazepam, nitrazepam, eszopiclone, diazepam, zolpidem, etc. Such drugs have problems of addiction, drug accumulation and rebound from discontinuation, and should be taken strictly under the guidance of a physician.
Second, non-pharmacological treatment of insomnia
1.Sleep habits of self-adjustment
(1) Regular work and rest time, no matter when you go to sleep the night before, you should get up on time in the morning, and keep the usual bed and wake up time on weekends and holidays, not trying to make up for the sleep.
(2) A quiet, comfortable and safe sleep environment to ensure a restful sleep. No reading or watching TV in bed. Moderate and regular daily exercise, but not within 2 hours before bedtime.
(3) Do not drink alcohol, coffee, and tea, do not smoke after dinner, and do not eat too much before bedtime.
(4) If you go to bed for 20 minutes and still can not fall asleep, you can get up and do something monotonous, and then go to bed when you feel like sleeping, do not look at the time frequently when you can not sleep. If you wake up in the night after 15 minutes and still can not fall back to sleep, you can listen to your favorite music, and then turn off the music when there is a sleepy feeling.
(5) Insomniacs try to avoid daytime naps or napping.
(6) pay attention to the sleeping position, the right side of the bed is particularly good, the right side of the bed for too long, can be switched to supine (except for those with sleep apnea syndrome, severe heart failure and other unsuitable supine).
2, self-massage to improve sleep
(1) press the pericardial meridian: follow the medial line of the upper arms bilaterally, from the top downward pressure, pain points and then focus on pressure, 1-2 times a day. —
(2) Point rubbing Shen Men point: Shen Men point is located at the ulnar end of the transverse wrist line, the radial recess of the ulnar carpal flexor tendon, before going to bed each day with the threaded side of one thumb, point rubbing the Shen Men point of the other hand, change the thumb of the other hand, similarly point rubbing the Shen Men point of the former hand, to feel soreness and swelling is appropriate, each repeated 30 times.
(3) Point and press the Sanyinjiao point, which is three inches above the tip of the inner ankle, behind the medial edge of the tibia, and can be pressed for three minutes at a time. Knead the earlobes: pinch the bilateral earlobes with both thumbs and index fingers and gently twist and knead them to produce a sore and painful sensation for about 2 minutes.
(4) Finger combing method: bend both hands, except for the thumb, the remaining four fingers knocking vertically on the scalp in the direction of the front hairline, the top of the head, the back of the head, the neck, left, middle and right three lines. 3-5 times a day, at least five minutes each time. You can also use a comb, the same method as before.
3.Food therapy for insomnia

(3) blood deficiency insomnia, can often take lotus root powder, or simmered lotus root with a small fire with the right amount of honey to eat, but also available longan meat 10g, red dates, 5 core, steamed egg a meal, once a day. Diabetic patients do not take honey, red dates.
(4) Drink a glass of milk before going to bed, milk contains tryptophan, can make the brain thinking activity is restricted and go to sleep.
