How are thyroid nodules treated?

Nodular goiter is due to the uneven enlargement and nodule-like changes of the thyroid gland after repeated or continuous hyperplasia under the long-term stimulation of increased thyroid stimulating hormones. The treatment is as follows: 1. Physiological goiter during pubertal development or pregnancy can be treated without medication and without surgery. More iodine-rich foods should be consumed. 2. For diffuse simple goiter in young people before the age of 25, a small amount of thyroxine can be given to inhibit the secretion of anterior pituitary pro-thyroid hormone. 3.Surgical treatment, the main indications for surgery are: the lobes of the gland are too enlarged, pressing the trachea, esophagus, laryngeal nerve or sympathetic ganglion and causing clinical symptoms; post-thoracic goiter; huge goiter that affects work life; nodular goiter secondary to hyperthyroidism, which should be prepared strictly before surgery according to hyperthyroidism; nodular goiter suspected of malignant change, etc. The surgical approach should depend on the number, size and distribution of the nodules. In general, subtotal thyroidectomy or total thyroidectomy is feasible, as well as subtotal thyroidectomy. If the suspected nodules are confirmed to be malignant by intraoperative frozen section, total thyroidectomy should be performed. Generally, thyroid nodules grow slowly, so if you experience any uncomfortable symptoms, you should seek medical treatment promptly.
