Prevention and treatment of kidney stones

Kidney stones are a common disease among residents in China, especially in the southern region. There are many factors in the formation of kidney stones, including race, heredity, environmental factors, dietary habits, as well as their own endocrine metabolic abnormalities, long-term bed rest, malnutrition and infection can affect the formation of stones. There are several treatment options for kidney stones, including drug lithotripsy, extracorporeal lithotripsy and surgical lithotripsy (minimally invasive surgery/open surgery). The choice of specific treatment options depends mainly on the size of the stone, the degree of hydronephrosis and the presence of co-infection. Some studies have shown that the lifetime recurrence rate of kidney stones is 100%, so kidney stones are mainly dependent on prevention, not on treatment. For the general public, the easiest thing to do is to change the diet. 1, drink more water: For people with a history of kidney stones, it is recommended to drink at least 2L of water every day, because enough water intake is needed to produce enough urine for excretion. If you live in a hot and dry weather environment or do physical exercise regularly, you need to drink more water to produce enough urine. 2, choose a low salt and low fat diet, should reduce the intake of salt in the diet, avoid spicy, acidic, oily food, light diet. 3.Whether the stone specimens are obtained by drug de-stoning or surgical stone extraction, it is recommended to perform stone composition analysis, and then provide targeted dietary guidance according to the results. In case of calcium oxalate stones, try to eat less oxalic acid-rich foods, including spinach, potatoes, nuts, tea, chocolate and soy products. If it is a uric acid stone, control the uric acid level by not eating high purine foods such as animal offal, seafood and old fire soups, and eat more citrus and lemonade. If it is carbonic acid apatite, it is related to urinary tract infection. In addition to the large amount of water that should be drunk, appropriate antibiotics should be used to control urine bacteria.
