How to treat a 2cm thyroid nodule

If the thyroid nodule is 2 cm, if the edge is regular, the surface is smooth or there is an intact envelope, it is more likely to be a benign nodule, or it can be a simple thyroid adenoma. Radiofrequency ablation can be chosen as the treatment method, which is less invasive and is also performed under local anesthesia, and the postoperative recovery is faster. If the lesion is progressively larger or if there is a significant pressure sensation, it can also be treated by traditional open surgery with partial removal of the thyroid gland under local anesthesia and intraoperative cryopathological examination. Postoperative care should be taken to prevent infection and fluid supplementation to prevent hypocalcemia, including intravenous calcium gluconate. After surgery, regular follow-up and observation is required, as benign thyroid nodules are prone to recurrence or reoccurrence and are associated with abnormal thyroxine metabolism in the body, so regular ultrasound examinations are required.
