Lung Yin deficiency is mainly characterized by symptoms such as heartburn, dry mouth, cough with little sputum, hot flashes and night sweats (abnormal sweating after going to sleep, sweating stops after waking up). Lung yang deficiency may be characterized by tiredness and weakness (fatigue), cough with scanty sputum, and fear of cold. 1. Lung Yin deficiency is due to insufficiency of Lung Yin and relative exuberance of Lung Yang, manifesting symptoms of deficiency heat. Clinical manifestations include heartburn, insomnia, hot flashes and night sweats, redness at the cheekbones of the face, and less sputum, or even a dry cough without sputum. If there is deficiency of lung yin, inflammation of deficiency fire, or damage to the blood channels, there will be blood in the phlegm, dryness of the mouth and throat, emaciation, and hoarseness of the voice. The tongue and pulse are usually red with little moss and a fine pulse (the pulse becomes narrower, thinner and faster). 2. Lung yang deficiency is mainly due to the deficiency of yang qi in the lungs and the relative exuberance of yin in the lungs, showing signs of coldness. Clinical manifestations include coughing up phlegm, sputum that is thin and white in color, shortness of breath, fear of cold, lethargy, weakness of limbs, spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the daytime, aggravated by sweating with a little movement), fear of the wind, and susceptibility to colds and other symptoms. Tongue and pulse are generally pale with white fur and a weak, slow pulse. If necessary, it is recommended to go to a regular hospital for consultation and treatment under the guidance of a professional physician.
