Does hepatitis B carriage have a significant impact on the body?

As the name implies, the body carries the hepatitis B virus, but the virus has not caused damage to the liver. Clinically, there are two types of cases. One is chronic HBV carriers, where the infected person is usually in the immune tolerance period, manifested by positive hepatitis B surface antigen for at least 6 months, positive HBV DNA, positive HBeAg, more than 3 consecutive follow-ups within 1 year with serum transaminases within the normal range, and liver tissue basically free of inflammation and fibrosis. The other condition is inactive HBsAg carriers, which are serum HBsAg positive, HBeAg negative, anti-HBe positive or negative, HBV DNA below the lower limit of detection, transaminases within normal range in 3 consecutive follow-ups within 1 year, and slight liver histological lesions. Among the more than 90 million people infected with hepatitis B virus in China, about 40% are hepatitis B carriers. The chance of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer in hepatitis B carriers is very low, so we should not be too nervous. However, it has been reported in the literature that 11% of carriers within 2 years, 16% within 3 years and 24% within 4 years will evolve into e antigen negative hepatitis patients, so regular review is very necessary. Don’t be afraid of the hassle and don’t be burdened with it.
