What should I look for in first aid transport of a patient with a spinal injury?

Spinal injury consists of two parts, injury to the stability of the spine and injury to the spinal nerves, both of which can exist separately or simultaneously. The symptoms of spinal injury vary individually and are related to the site and severity of the injury. The main symptoms are pain at the site of injury, deformity, restricted movement, spinal instability, and in mild cases, only pain at the site of injury. So in the emergency handling of spinal injury patients should pay attention to the following points: 1, the patient must be transported lying down, by more than one person to support the patient’s body, there is a person to hold the patient’s head, can not rotate the patient’s head. In the handling process, the movement should be neat and tidy, the patient’s head, neck, chest, abdomen, limbs to be in exactly one plane, that is, coaxial turn over. Because of the soft bottom of the toothed stretcher, it is easy to cause the spine to bend or rotate, which can easily cause secondary injuries with serious consequences; 2. Pay attention to local fixation when handling, cervical fractures must be used to fix the neck with a cervical brace. If there is no professional neck brace, you can use a towel or clothes rolled into a roll and stuffed on both sides of the patient’s neck to fix it. If the injury is sustained on a construction site, even two bricks can be wrapped and placed on both sides of the patient’s head; 3. Pay attention to the spine flat lift and axis flip when carrying, not to make the spine rotate or bend.
