What eye diseases are children susceptible to?

Eye diseases during childhood are extremely harmful to children’s vision development. Since young children cannot express their senses accurately, many eye diseases depend on careful observation by parents. If you notice any of the following, your child is likely to have an eye disease and should be examined in a timely manner Inability to look at objects in front of the eyes or to follow the light to turn the eyes; when covering one eye the child does not respond, while covering the other eye can cause the child to be irritable and cry, indicating monocular vision impairment or amblyopia. Children often tilt their heads to see things (crooked neck), or love to close one eye in the sun, or one eye focus on the target, the other eye deviated from the target (double vision inconsistency), these are mostly the performance of strabismus. Squinting when reading books or watching TV at a close distance. The above performance may be a problem with vision, with refractive error, such as farsightedness, myopia or astigmatism. The child’s eyeballs appear to wobble involuntarily, which is medically known as nystagmus. Tears soon after birth, even white mucous or yellow purulent discharge, may be caused by a poorly functioning nasolacrimal duct. When the nasolacrimal duct is blocked, the tears are trapped in the tear sac, and when infection occurs, the tears turn into pus. Red eyes and eye discharge are mostly a sign of conjunctivitis. If every spring and summer attacks are accompanied by frequent sneezing, pay attention to whether you have allergic diseases. If photophobia and tearing occur, it is important to rule out eye diseases such as congenital glaucoma, entropion, and inflammation of the cornea. A white or yellow-white reflection in the pupil area of the eye, which should be black, is commonly referred to as cat’s eye. It may be a sign of congenital cataract, retinoblastoma, retinopathy of prematurity, and pediatric hereditary fundus disease. All of these eye diseases have different manifestations and different treatment principles and methods. Parents should not only detect abnormalities in the baby’s eyes as early as possible, but also not to blindly match them.
