Tui na with topical application of Chinese herbs for the treatment of diarrhea in infants and children

Because the digestive system of infants and young children is not yet well developed, they are prone to indigestion, leading to diarrhea. Although infantile diarrhea is a common clinical disease, it can lead to severe dyspepsia and affect growth and development if targeted treatment is not provided in a timely manner. In this regard, this paper analyzes the clinical application of Tui Na with topical Chinese medicine in the treatment of diarrhea in infants and young children. 1. Data and methods 1.1 General data The group selected 168 cases of infants and young children, 89 males and 79 females, aged 0-4 years old, with an average age of (1.92±0.84) years, who were admitted to our clinic from March 2010 to March 2013. The clinical symptoms were frequent stools, fever, and abdominal distension, and some patients showed dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. After clinical examination, all patients presented with diarrhea symptoms. 1.2 General method 1.2.1 Tui Na treatment When performing Tui Na method treatment, Tui Na chiropractic treatment is used as the basic Tui Na technique, and then different techniques are used according to the clinical symptoms of the patients. For patients with wind-cold diarrhea, pushing the San Guan point, rubbing the Wai Lao Gong point, and then rubbing the navel with the abdomen and belly angle and rubbing the tail of the turtle are used. For patients with spleen deficiency diarrhea, push the Sanguan point, tonify the large intestine, perform abdominal massage, and press the Spleen point, Large Intestine point and Stomach point with appropriate force. For patients with damp-heat diarrhea, they can first clear the large intestine and diarrhea the small intestine, retreat the six internal organs, and press and knead the small Tianxin point. 1.2.2 Topical application of Chinese medicine For cold-damp type patients, medicines such as Clove, Plantago, Cinnamon, Cornus officinalis, and Wu Bei Zi can be used in a certain ratio and ground into powder form. For patients with hot dampness, Cang Zhu, Bitter Ginseng and Plantago can be ground to powder. Take 15 grams of fine powder, add vinegar and honey to make a paste and apply it to the Shen Que point of the patient once a day for ten days. 1.3 Clinical efficacy evaluation criteria Effective: clinical symptoms disappear and stool frequency returns to normal. Effective: clinical symptoms gradually recovered and the number of stools decreased. Ineffective: clinical symptoms did not improve significantly, and the number of stools did not decrease. 2 .Results After the treatment, the clinical symptoms of the patients gradually disappeared. When observing the treatment of diarrhea in infants and children by Chinese medicine, it was found that on the third day of treatment, 113 cases were effective, 50 cases were effective and 5 cases were ineffective, with a treatment efficiency of 97.02%. On the 6th day of treatment, the patients were cured, and the cure rate was 100%. Because the digestive system of patients at this stage is not well developed, they often have symptoms of indigestion, and if targeted treatment is not carried out, the condition of patients may worsen or even lead to death. At present, the clinical treatment of diarrhea in infants and children is mainly based on the combination of Tui Na and topical Chinese medicine, which has good clinical efficacy. According to Chinese medicine, the main cause of spleen and stomach dysfunction in infants is the external exposure to the six sexes and internal injury to milk and food. Therefore, the treatment of diarrhea in infants and young children is carried out with the combination of Tui Na and topical Chinese medicine, which has the characteristics of simple method, high safety and good efficacy. When performing tui na treatment, the main treatment should be tui na chiropractic treatment, and then according to the patient’s clinical symptoms, take suitable acupuncture points for tui na. Because Tui Na mainly focuses on the patient’s large and small intestines, the use of Tui Na can strengthen the stimulation of acupuncture points through the practitioner’s appropriate techniques, which can regulate the patient’s intestinal function and promote the absorption of the digestive system. Clinical studies have shown that Tui Na method can enhance and relieve the speed of gastrointestinal peristalsis and improve the immune function of patients. At the same time, tui na treatment of body acupuncture points has a deep therapeutic effect, which is conducive to promoting the balance of yin and yang in the patient’s body, improving spleen and stomach functions, and can effectively relieve diarrhea symptoms. Relevant scholars point out that the intestines and spleen are the foci of diarrhea in infants and children, and the navel is between the upper and lower abdomen, connected with the meridians and internal organs in the abdomen, and the fat layer in the abdomen is thin. The use of Chinese medicine compress not only makes the drug can achieve therapeutic effect in a short period of time, but also can fully absorb the drug through the abdominal meridians and achieve the effect of warming the spleen and kidney. Clinical studies have found that the types of diarrhea in infants and children are very complicated, with cold, deficiency and dampness. The use of topical Chinese medicine can be applied to different types of diarrhea by dissipating heat to remove accumulation and warming the spleen and kidneys, which can effectively relieve the clinical symptoms of patients. For patients with more serious conditions, symptoms of electrolyte imbalance can occur, and saline can be appropriately supplemented to avoid patients’ symptoms of dehydration. All 168 patients with infantile diarrhea in this group were treated with Tui Na with topical Chinese medicine, and all patients were cured and discharged after the 6th day of treatment. The treatment efficiency was 100%. In conclusion, the use of Tui Na with topical Chinese medicine can effectively relieve the clinical symptoms of infants and children and shorten the treatment period of patients, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
