Difference between mild diarrhea and heavy diarrhea

The difference between mild diarrhea and heavy diarrhea is that, on the one hand, mild diarrhea is usually less frequent, usually less than three times, while heavy diarrhea can be more than five times, or even more than ten times. Also, patients with mild diarrhea usually do not have significant nausea, vomiting, and systemic manifestations such as fever, dehydration, or even shock. In severe diarrhea, the patient will have significant nausea, vomiting, poor feeding, and dehydration, electrolyte disturbance, and even shock in severe cases. Therefore, mild diarrhea can usually be treated well with symptomatic medications and dietary control on its own. However, patients with severe diarrhea must go to the hospital for a definitive diagnosis and symptomatic treatment such as anti-infection and rehydration support to avoid life-threatening effects. It is especially important to pay strict attention to its dangers in elderly people who have diabetes or other underlying diseases.
