Babies with diarrhea do not necessarily need to take diarrhea milk powder, because babies with diarrhea that is clearly caused by lactose intolerance must be switched to diarrhea milk powder. The difference between diarrhea milk powder and normal milk powder is that the nutritional composition is the same, but diarrhea milk powder does not contain lactose. Because it does not contain lactose, it reduces the digestion of lactose components in the small intestine, thus facilitating the repair of the small intestine mucosa and achieving the purpose of stopping diarrhea. If the child’s diarrhea is caused by infectious factors, and some other causes such as allergies, indigestion, etc., and the diarrhea is short-lived and can be fed with regular milk powder or breast milk, it is not necessary to change the diarrhea formula in this case. However, if it is clear that lactose intolerance is present, it is important to recommend a lactose-free formula, i.e. diarrheal formula. When taking diarrhea formula orally, be sure to wait until the child’s stools are normal for 5-7 days before gradually switching to Ⅰ to Ⅱ formula, do not switch to regular formula all at once.
