Thyroid nodules do not heal on their own. Most thyroid nodules will not be symptomatic and if the benign nodule is small in size, it will not affect the patient’s life. In the case of larger benign nodules, therapeutic intervention by a doctor is required. In the case of malignant nodules, prompt surgical removal is usually recommended. Patients should not hope that they will get better on their own, as this may progress to advanced incurable thyroid cancer or even life-threatening metastasis of cancer cells.
