Acupuncture for menopausal syndrome

With the progress of medicine and social development, human life expectancy is significantly increasing and China has irresistibly entered into an aging society. To achieve healthy aging, we must pay attention to menopausal health care. Therefore, health care and disease prevention for menopausal and postmenopausal women is an important task for the medical profession and society as a whole. Menopause syndrome is a syndrome in which women suffer from dysfunction of the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian endocrine axis due to the decline of ovarian function around menopause, resulting in a syndrome of plant nerve dysfunction and mental and psychological changes, with clinical manifestations such as hot flashes and sweating, irritability, palpitation and insomnia, headache and dry mouth, dizziness, tinnitus, insomnia and paranoia, fatigue and joint pain. According to domestic statistics, about 85% of menopausal women have this disease, and about 25% of them have serious symptoms that affect their normal work and life; in addition, due to the intertwined changes of estrogen deficiency and body aging during menopause, it can also contribute to the occurrence of various age-related diseases such as coronary heart disease, hypertension, osteoporosis, diabetes, gynecological tumors, or aggravate existing diseases. Therefore, paying attention to the prevention and treatment of female menopausal syndrome can not only enable women to go through menopause safely, but also prevent it before it happens, delay the occurrence of various age-related diseases and slow down the aging process of women. Western medicine advocates the use of hormone replacement therapy for this disease, but its application is somewhat limited due to the existence of contraindications and side effects. In recent years, acupuncture has made great progress in the treatment of this disease, and clinical studies have shown the superiority and development potential of acupuncture in the treatment of this disease. Our research shows that acupuncture has a certain improvement effect on all symptoms of menopausal syndrome, and its efficacy is significant without any toxic side effects. Chinese medicine believes that the main pathogenesis of the disease lies in kidney deficiency, which leads to a series of clinical symptoms due to the dysfunction of many internal organs. At the same time, because acupuncture can play an overall benign regulating role, it can effectively relieve the symptoms of menopausal syndrome and at the same time remove or reduce the factors that predispose women to old age diseases, which also has important clinical significance for the prevention and health care of menopausal women. Since this method is simple and easy to implement, with significant curative effect, safe and economic, without any toxic side effects, it is worthy of further clinical promotion and application.
