There are two major categories of commonly used visual aids, namely optical and non-optical visual aids. (1) Optical visual aids: It is the use of convex lenses or the magnifying effect of the optical system, so that patients with visual disabilities can see small objects that were not clear to become larger, so they can see or see clearly. For example, a handheld magnifying glass. (2) Non-optical visual aids: Instead of using the magnifying effect of a convex lens or optical system, the patient’s vision is improved by changing the surrounding environment. For example, increased lighting, large-size newspapers, magazines, etc. 4.What is a distance vision aid? The main disadvantage of the distant vision aid is the small field of view, so it is very difficult to walk with it on. 5.What is a near vision aid? A near vision aid is a sight aid used by low vision patients when they look close. For example, a person cannot read a newspaper and therefore needs the help of a near vision aid. The advantages of electronic visual aids: (1) high magnification (2) large field of view: both eyes used to read, you can play the role of two eyes, a more complete field of view (3) can have a normal reading distance and comfortable reading posture (4) can have the image reversal change: for example, you can adjust to black on white or white on black. (5) Can adjust the contrast and brightness 8.Can the visual aid replace the function of the normal eye? Although the use of visual aids to see near and far has greatly improved the conditions of patients’ life, study and work. However, vision aids cannot replace the function of the normal eye, because every kind of vision aid has its advantages and disadvantages. 9.Will wearing a visual aid damage the residual vision of patients with low vision? In general, low vision patients with stable eye disease or the majority of congenital eye disease do not develop eye disease. Therefore, for such patients, the reasonable use of residual vision, whether with or without a visual aid, will not cause damage to the eye, let alone further loss of residual vision. If there is a loss of vision, it may be related to other eye diseases and not to the use of vision and whether or not to wear a visual aid.
