What should I know about out-of-town patient visits?

Note to out-of-town patients: Doctors are not gods and cannot cure all mental illnesses, and some of the illnesses that can be cured are not immediately apparent after just one visit. About half of the outpatients come from outside the country. Many patients come all the way to Beijing, see the clinic once, and then go back, making it difficult to guarantee follow-up visits and therefore treatment results. Before an out-of-town patient comes to Beijing, please consider the following questions: 1. Have you been seen by a local psychiatrist? For many common mental illnesses, psychiatrists with systematic training are able to see them, so it is not necessary to come to Beijing. 2. If you have seen a local psychiatrist and the diagnosis is unclear or the treatment is not effective, do you have all the medical records, test results, drug packages or instructions related to the treatment? 3. Can you stay in Beijing for more than a week, or come to the clinic whenever you need to? After a doctor prescribes a new drug, he or she needs to observe the adverse reactions, and if they are serious, the drug may need to be changed. If you leave after prescribing the drug and have serious adverse reactions, you will not be able to come back in time for a follow-up visit. As for the efficacy, it usually takes more than two weeks to see, it is better to go back to observe. 4.Can I have a review at the outpatient clinic every 2-4 weeks? If not, one outpatient visit at our hospital can at most provide a diagnosis and treatment plan, and we still have to rely on the local psychiatrist for follow-up. 5. Have I registered online in advance? If not, you can only try your luck at the window at 6:00. There is usually no extra number for the first consultation.
