Treatment of scoliosis includes both conservative and surgical treatment, with the overall goal of stopping the progression of the deformity to minimize the risk to the patient. Conservative treatment, usually referred to as brace treatment, is primarily indicated for milder idiopathic cases and is aimed at stopping the progression of scoliosis and stabilizing it at an acceptable level until it stops growing. Surgical treatment is indicated for severe idiopathic scoliosis, congenital scoliosis, neurofibromatosis scoliosis and other severe scoliosis, with the aim of preventing further progression of the deformity by fusing the spine to minimize the impact of the deformity on the body. On this basis, a certain degree of orthopedic correction and promotion of bone fusion is done using instruments. Modern advances in scoliosis orthopedic surgery techniques have led to increasingly high orthopedic rates, and patients who undergo early surgery can achieve quite satisfactory treatment results.
