Plantar warts and cervical cancer HPV are different. Plantar warts are mainly caused by low-risk HPV infection that causes skin papules, while cervical cancer HPV is a high-risk HPV infection that persists in the cervix and causes lesions in the cervical epithelium, which is the difference between the two. If there are plantar warts, it is recommended to give treatment by laser. If there is high risk HPV infection in the cervix, colposcopy should be done first, and if no lesions occur, regular review can be done. About 80% of patients with high-risk HPV infection will turn negative within a year or so, so it is important to have regular follow-ups. However, some people also have persistent infection that may lead to cervical lesions. Colposcopy is recommended and regular follow-up is fine if there are no problems.
