What to do if you have diabetic foot

Why is there a high rate of amputation in diabetic patients? The biggest takeaway from my fellowship at General Hospital is that I know that most diabetic feet are curable and do not require amputation. As an endocrinologist, why did we always actively advise patients to amputate their limbs in the past? These are the reasons: 1. It has to be admitted that diabetic foot complications are a serious global public health problem. It is indeed difficult to treat clinically, and the amputation rate is always high in diabetic patients compared to non-diabetic patients. 2, in the treatment of diabetic foot problem we still continue the traditional concept of the past, that diabetic foot is not easy to cure, instead of treating the more rotten it is better to quickly cut, amputation can save time and money instead. Later, I slowly understood that from the aspect of our healthy people, we will never appreciate the significance of losing our foot to us, just like air and water, we usually do not feel their importance, but without air and water we can still do? If we think about the problem from the patient’s point of view, we will immediately understand the importance of the foot to them. If they lose their feet when they are old and cannot walk freely, you can imagine their pain, which is never a simple problem. 3, as long as the discovery of diabetic foot, whether the patient or people around the thought of amputation, the patient as long as the thought of entering the hospital is equivalent to the choice of amputation, most of them first is to avoid, refused to enter the hospital, until the development of diabetic foot to a certain point, perhaps the desire to survive, or they are forced to send to the hospital, because the best time has been lost, most of them just Most of them had their limbs amputated. Some even lose their lives. 4, the most critical problem is that the treatment of diabetic foot is still far from popular, I also went to the Air Force General Hospital after training to know that there are so many patients can be cured, even if the patient’s foot treatment for a very long time, and finally look very ugly, but as long as you can walk is a success.
