The causes of calf pain are more varied and therefore the ancillary tests needed vary. If the patient has clinical manifestations such as low back pain with radiating lower limb pain or numbness it is recommended to check lumbar spine X-rays, CT, MRI, etc. If the calf pain is accompanied by lower peripheral oedema, heaviness, varicose veins in the lower limbs, etc. it is recommended to have lower limb artery/vein ultrasound.
