How long does menopause usually last in women?

The duration of menopause in women varies from person to person, and may be as short as a few months or as long as several years, or even up to 10-20 years. The duration of menopause, also known as perimenopausal syndrome, is closely related to the individual’s physical condition, ovarian function, and the speed of recovery of estrogen and progesterone hormone levels. Typically, women aged 45-55 years old can experience menopausal symptoms 1-2 years before menopause or between 10 years after menopause. Typical clinical manifestations include menstrual disorders, fever, sweating, palpitations, insomnia, and bone pain. In some women, menopause may last only about 3 months, in most women it may last 3-5 years, or even about 10-20 years in severe cases, before the symptoms can be reduced. In general, the vast majority of women do not need treatment, except in special cases where hormone levels need to be checked and symptoms can be improved by supplementing with small doses of estrogen. Menopause can be relieved by exercising properly, getting enough sleep, avoiding spicy diets, and going outdoors to get more sunlight.
