Prostate cancer is a common malignancy that threatens older men. 80% of patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage and lose the chance of early treatment. Early diagnosis of prostate cancer offers the possibility of cure. Laparoscopic radical prostate cancer surgery is a minimally invasive procedure in which the entire prostate gland and its envelope, bilateral seminal vesicles, bilateral vas deferens, bladder neck and regional lymph nodes are removed through five small holes in the patient’s lower abdomen, and the bladder is reconnected to the remaining urethra with special sutures under the laparoscope. Laparoscopic radical prostate cancer surgery has been carried out in our department since 2006 and has been used as a routine procedure with satisfactory results. Laparoscopic radical prostatectomy is less invasive, less blood loss during surgery and quicker recovery after surgery, patients can get out of bed 3 days after surgery and can be discharged in 5-7 days. The main complications of the surgery are urinary incontinence and sexual dysfunction, which can disappear 2-3 months after surgery. For very early stage prostate cancer, we can use the surgery with preservation of the sexual nerve. For locally advanced prostate cancer, such as invasion of the seminal vesicle gland and the peritoneum, we can also use neoadjuvant endocrine therapy for 3-6 months, and if the tumor is significantly limited or shrunken, surgery can be performed for radical treatment. However, postoperative adjuvant drug therapy or radiotherapy should be given to achieve satisfactory results.
