What are the ways of metastatic spread of ovarian cancer?

The incidence of ovarian cancer ranks third after cervical cancer and uterine body cancer, accounting for about 4% of all malignant tumors in women. However, ovarian cancer is the most common type of gynecological tumor that causes death, posing a serious threat to women’s lives. Ovarian cancer can metastasize and spread, then, what are the ways of ovarian cancer metastasis and spread? The following are the ways of ovarian cancer metastasis and spread. 1.Lymphatic tract metastasis: lymphatic tract metastasis is a common metastasis mode of ovarian cancer. It usually metastasizes to the lymph nodes adjacent to the abdominal aorta, but it can also metastasize to the inguinal lymph nodes along the round ligament. 2.Direct spread: Advanced ovarian cancer not only adheres to the surrounding tissues, but also directly infiltrates these tissues, such as uterus, wall peritoneum, broad ligament, fallopian tube, colon and small intestine, and even spreads to the uterine cavity through the fallopian tube. 3. Hematogenous metastasis: Except for sarcoma, malignant teratoma and advanced stage, ovarian malignant tumors rarely metastasize through blood. Generally, distant metastases can reach the liver, pleura, lung and other parts of the body. 4.Implantation metastasis: ovarian cancer can penetrate the peritoneum and intestinal canal to form a large number of nodular or papillary metastases, especially the papillary tissue of plasmacytic cystic adenocarcinoma, which is more likely to penetrate the peritoneum of the tumor and spread to all parts of the abdominal cavity, and cause a large amount of ascites.
