What is male infertility?
Infertility is defined as the failure of an adult man and woman to conceive when they have lived together for more than one year and have had normal conjugal life without using any contraception. Male infertility is defined as infertility in men when the male partner is infertile due to male causes. Male infertility accounts for about 50% of infertility in men alone and in men and women together.
Causes of male infertility: Idiopathic: azoospermia, oligospermia, weak spermia, deformed spermia, dead sperm
Varicocele: primary varicocele, secondary varicocele
Urogenital tract obstruction: vas deferens obstruction, epididymal duct obstruction
Primary testicular disorders: occupational testicular injury (e.g. radiation, heat, noise, pollution, etc.), Klinefelter’s syndrome, cryptorchidism, orchitis
Cytotoxic therapy: partial androgen resistance
Hypothalamic-pituitary disorders: primary diseases, tumors, hyperprolactinemia
Routine examination for male infertility
1.Conventional semen analysis.
2.Urogenital system examination, including: penis, urethra, prostate, testes, epididymis, spermatic cord.
3.Sex hormone examination.
Notes for male infertility patients
1.Be psychologically open, do not be overly anxious and worried.
2.Avoid adverse environmental factors: radiation, high temperature, heavy smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, harmful chemicals, heavy metals.
3.Keep the temperature in the scrotum low.
4, increase nutrition: appropriate to eat more animal offal, lean meat, fish, eggs, milk, soy products, walnuts, sesame, oysters.
5.Adjust the frequency of intercourse appropriately.
Male pre-birth examination should pay attention to.
1, life before the examination should be regular. Before the pre-baby checkup, men should pay attention to ensure a regular lifestyle, to avoid staying up late, to combine work and rest, appropriate physical exercise, diet should pay attention to comprehensive and balanced nutrition, eat more food rich in high-quality protein, try to avoid eating high-fat, high-sugar, high-protein food.
2, three days before the examination do not smoke and drink, do not eat greasy, high sugar food. Male friends should quit smoking and drinking within three months or even six months before planning to get pregnant, because smoking can trigger dysfunction and affect the success rate of conception; long-term heavy drinking affects conception and embryo development.
3.No intercourse or self-ejaculation 2 to 7 days before the pre-baby checkup. The frequency of sexual life is too short or too long is not good.
4, maintain hygiene. The day before the physical examination should be showered to ensure the cleanliness of the body.
5, need to fasting. Blood draws to fasting, so the day before the test do not eat again after dinner, to ensure fasting for more than 8 hours before the blood draw.
