A new concept of osteoporosis

  Treatment of osteoporosis has progressed from treatment to delay the onset and progression of osteoporosis to treatment to actively restore bone health. The five misconceptions of osteoporosis prevention and treatment One is that you need to take calcium only when you are older. In fact, young people also need to pay attention to bone health. Only when you are young and supplemented with adequate amounts of calcium to increase the peak bone mass of your body, you can delay the onset of osteoporosis when you enter middle age and old age. Instead of taking calcium supplements when you get older and develop osteoporosis, it is better to take care of it when you are young by taking a balanced diet and so on to prevent it from happening in the first place.  The second is to rely only on self-perception to detect osteoporosis. Some middle-aged and elderly people think that osteoporosis does not occur because their bones do not hurt and they feel good. In fact, most of the osteoporosis, in the early or even the middle stage, do not appear abnormal feeling or do not feel obvious. It is too late to seek medical treatment when you find yourself with back pain or fracture. This can be avoided if some examinations are carried out properly at an early stage. Nowadays, many stores selling calcium products are specially equipped with bone density testing instruments for free testing of customers in order to promote their products. Some middle-aged and elderly people often rely on this test alone to believe that they suffer from osteoporosis and buy a lot of calcium supplements to take. In fact, it is wrong to do so, because to determine whether the bone quality is osteoporosis, further quantitative CT examination is needed to confirm. At the same time, the more calcium is not the better, only to choose the right variety for yourself, and the right amount to take, in order to achieve the desired effect, but blindly supplement calcium, but harmful to the body.  Fourth, it is believed that osteoporosis can only be rested at home, or lying or sitting. In fact, even the elderly who have been diagnosed with osteoporosis, should also participate in more exercise, because exercise can not only improve blood circulation, but also enhance bone density, which is more helpful to bone health. Just need to be extra careful in the exercise to avoid improper exercise accidents.  Fifth, it is believed that the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis only need to supplement calcium. This is also a one-sided view. In fact, supplemental calcium tablets are effective in preventing osteoporosis, but a reasonable diet is to a certain extent more important than just supplemental calcium tablets. The reason is that a reasonable diet can not only promote calcium absorption and utilization, but also calcium supplementation through dietary supplements, such as eating more calcium containing milk, fish, shrimp, soy products, etc., the effect is better.
