The purpose of shock position for patients in shock is to increase the amount of cardiac blood returned to the veins of the lower extremities, increase the effective circulating blood volume, increase cardiac output, improve the patient’s respiratory function, and improve cerebral blood flow, thereby reducing damage to the brain, heart, lungs and kidneys and other important organs. The purpose of elevating the head and trunk is to lower the diaphragm plane, reduce the impact of upward movement of abdominal organs on respiratory movement, improve respiratory movement, and thus increase lung capacity. The purpose of elevating the lower extremities is to increase the amount of blood returned to the heart from the veins of the lower extremities, to increase the effective circulating blood volume, thus increasing cardiac output and improving the blood supply to important organs such as the brain, heart, lungs and kidneys, thus reducing the functional impairment of important organs.
