What to do if you have a hemangioma on your liver

Most patients with hepatic hemangioma do not have obvious symptoms, the tumor is small and grows slowly, no special treatment is needed, and regular follow-up observation is required; however, when the hemangioma is large in size, grows with obvious tendency or produces obvious clinical symptoms, according to one’s own situation, one can choose appropriate ways of treatment, such as surgical treatment, arterial embolization, radiofrequency ablation and so on. 1. Surgery: if the hemangioma increases rapidly, or if the hemangioma develops malignancy, or if the tumor ruptures and bleeds with serious complications, open surgery or laparoscopic surgery can be chosen under the guidance of doctors, and the specific surgical plan includes partial hepatectomy, segmental hepatectomy and so on. 2. Arterial embolization: the choice refers to the use of embolization of blood-supplying arteries of hepatic hemangioma, i.e., the blood-supplying arteries will be blocked, so as to achieve the therapeutic purpose; however, the patients may have abdominal pain, high fever, nausea and other complications after arterial embolization therapy. 3. Radiofrequency ablation: the multi-electrode radiofrequency needle is inserted into the lesion of hemangioma, and the radiofrequency wave energy generates high temperature to make the hemangioma coagulate, necrotic and mechanized absorption, so as to achieve the purpose of treating hemangioma. Patients with hemangioma on liver should go to hospital for consultation in time, and under the guidance of doctors for targeted treatment.
