Babies who watch a lot of TV are prone to autism

Recently, a study by foreign pediatricians shows that if infants aged 1.5 to 2 months are placed in front of a television, they will keep staring at it and appear to be very quiet and obedient. However, if the babies are allowed to do so for a long time, it will make their heads react only to the mechanical sounds on the TV, but not at all to the mother’s own voice instead, because the mechanical sounds and the mother’s physical voice are not the same. Medical experts say that this is an important cause of autism. When watching TV, the left cortex of the infant’s brain, which is responsible for visual, analytical and computational functions, will show a scattered state due to the movement of attention with the picture; at the same time, the right cortex, which receives color signals, will also lose the inhibition of information. As a result, the pathway between the left and right cortices is reduced, leaving the brain structure in a state of disruption. Therefore, experts recommend to parents that after birth, especially in the first few months, it is important to engage in a variety of interactions with infants, such as play, conversation, and physical contact.
