How long is it normal to hold your breath

The general breath-holding time is related to human lung capacity, and there is no specific value that can be generalized. The normal duration of breath-holding is not clearly defined in medicine at present. The length of breath-holding time mainly depends on the human lung capacity, usually large lung capacity, good exercise endurance, breath-holding time is long. Small lung capacity, poor physical fitness, breath-holding time is short. Breath-holding, including land breath-holding and breath-holding under pressure, the general normal road breath-holding, the average time of about 30 seconds to 2 minutes, some adults with good cardiorespiratory function, can hold their breath for 3-4 minutes. If you hold your breath under pressure, due to the thoracic cavity is obstructed by the pressure, breath-holding time can be shortened, such as the human body on the road to hold your breath for 1 minute, underwater can only hold your breath for 30 seconds. In addition, although holding the breath can exercise lung capacity, but it is recommended that patients with cardiopulmonary disease to avoid holding the breath.
