Children with autism are called “children of the stars”. They have innocent eyes, their appearance is not much different from normal children, but they are always immersed in their own world, can not communicate, can not communicate, no group concept, behavior stereotypical repetitive, lack of curiosity, just like the distant twinkling stars in the sky. In recent years, the incidence of autism in children is getting higher and higher, and it is beginning to be widely appreciated. Autism is an immeasurable harm both to the child itself and to the family and society, so it is especially important for parents to observe their children’s performance at an early stage, and the following 4 major manifestations indicate that the child may be at risk of autism. Some children with autism can make sounds, but they cannot communicate with others and can only repeat what others say – parroting the words of others. Other children can communicate, but they speak in a very small voice, with a vague pronunciation, and only their parents can understand them. Some children can only imitate what others have said, but cannot converse in their own language. Many children do not ask or answer questions, but simply repeat what others have asked them. Communication is also often confused by the use of pronouns, such as “you” and “he” instead of themselves. Other children have good or even normal language skills in the early stages, but when they reach the age of 3 or 4, their ability to express themselves gradually decreases, even to the point where they cannot communicate with others comfortably. Parents will find that the child likes to play by himself, does not stick to others, does not like to hug or even avoid contact with others, will only take his mother’s hand to get something when he wants it, will not have eye contact, usually ignores the family when he has nothing to do. They don’t show special joy when they see their family back, they are not afraid to see strangers, and they don’t recognize strangers. This type of child is already obvious abnormalities in infancy: they hate to be picked up by others, and once they are picked up, they will cry desperately. When they grow up, they do not actively seek out children to play with, and when they are approached by others, they are evasive and always prefer to be alone. Some children do not refuse others, but they do not interact with children and lack social interaction skills, such as suddenly patting people, grabbing them or suddenly going over to hug them, and then leaving on their own, as if patting or grabbing people is not for contacting them but just an action, or there is only a form of contact without the content and purpose of contacting people. And they do not care about the things around them, only according to their own mood to do things, carefree, no matter what is happening around them, it is difficult to attract their attention, they are not even willing to make eye contact with people, the usual activities of the gaze also wandered, look at people often squinting eyes squinting, etc., rarely look straight and rarely show a smile, and even never greet people. Children with autism often focus on one or more play activities for a long time, such as spinning in place, playing with gyroscopes, wheels and bottle caps for a long time, placing blocks monotonously, refusing to accept new games, watching TV commercials and weather forecasts, and having no interest in cartoons, TV and movies that children generally like. Some children are dependent on certain objects, have a fixed way of placing or manipulating toys or certain objects, and cry or show obvious anxiety when there is a change. Most children also show purposeless activities, excessive activities, monotonous and repetitive jumping, clapping, waving, running, turning in place, and some even appear to self-harm, such as repeatedly picking their nostrils, picking their mouths, biting their hands, sucking and other actions, insensitive to pain, and often bruised. Most of them have moderate or even severe mental retardation, while a few of them have normal or near normal intelligence. Very few autistic children can show special ability in music, computer and mechanical memory in one aspect, and many of them have strong mechanical memory ability. Many of them have strong mechanical memory, especially for words and symbols. For example, one 3- or 4-year-old child is particularly fond of recognizing words, asking what to read when he sees a word, and remembering it after only one question. When a child has autism, early detection and early treatment is the key. Generally, it is easy to be ignored by parents during the infant and toddler years within the age of 3. However, after the child reaches the age of 2, the symptoms of autism will be more obvious, and parents can take their autistic children for treatment at this time. However, the best time to treat autism is between the ages of 2 and 6, not after the age of 6, which would make autism treatment very difficult. There is no optimal treatment plan for autism, but education and training are considered the most effective and primary treatment methods. The goal is to promote the child’s language development, improve social interaction, and master basic life skills and learning skills.
